The EarthRoamer XV (as in Xpedition Vehicle) runs on diesel and solar energy, has a king sized bed, toilet, shower, and enough space to live for a week or so. I consider it the ultimate camera bag! They are made real close to my neighborhood and I just have to figure out how to get my ‘neighbor’ to loan me his ride when he’s not using it 🙂
Wow! I want one. The quad-cab with optional: stereo, dvd, nav, winch, eaxtra H2O tank. A BARGAIN at only $200k!
Well, if you have more time & energy than $$, then make your own 🙂 There are multiple people documenting their projects on-line.
Actually, I am mechanical and have considered buying an older 26′ class C motorhome (van chassis) and simply converting it to 4wd, diesel and solar. I figure I can get a decent 90’s class C for about $12K, wrecking yard 4wd F350 dually drivetrain, including front and rear axles, transmission, transfer case and diesel engine for $10K, solar for $3000 and misc outfitting for another $7000 or so, bringing me close for about $35K.
Of course then I still have a 15 year old motorhome 😉
Actually, instead of the cartridge toilet I was trying to figure ouyt how to get one of the electric composting units to work in an RV. These are popular on sailboats in Australia and New Zeland:

Jack… I want you as my neighbor… someone who always has something exciting going on in the garage/workshop 🙂
