I took the Photograph above at my hotel in Dubai. That’s Chris and Jaclyn from cubangroove.com who are three time World Salsa Champions. I met them while enjoying a beer in the bar at the hotel I’m staying at here in Dubai. After showing them some of my photos, we decided to do a quick photo shoot at the rooftop bar.
The only light source in the shot is a simple flashlight. I opened the shutter and started painting them with light. The white streaks indicate where I had the flashlight pointed at the camera.
Doing same with my high school photo students, painting with light assignment. Except we’re using film.
Very cool shot Ben. The pink/magenta (from her skirt?) is really nice here and also repeated in the back wall as well.

Yes Thomas, the pink/magenta is the color of the inside of her skirt. She was moving it as I painted the lower portion of the photograph and then she became frozen once I got up to waist level.

Will you be posting the one with the strobe pop at the end?
I’m an amateur film maker, and I am trying to understand how film
makers are able to carry out scenes without cutting that include full
piercing of swords from all angles, and blood, and flesh, all in live
time. For example, I know the methods for making somebody look like
they’ve been cut, but how do you do this in one scene without a cut
right after a sword slash?
