Thinking about purchasing an LED Flashlight? If so, check out the LEDmuseum where they have in-depth reviews on just about every type of LED device you might purchase. LED Flashlights are nice because they use less battery power and have a much longer life than standard flashlights. I plan to add one to my camera bag for those times when I have to hike back to camp in the dark after taking photos during sunset.
Ben,
Please do not buy a flashlight until you have a look at the ones from SureFire. Read about them in Wired, ordered the Executive, and it is amazing. The reason is that the light is as bright as a huge Maglite, but the unit is tiny in size. Pricey, but wonderful. Have a look here:

Check out the LED headlamps. I have had one in my bag for a few years now. Micro in size, strap to your head so your hands remain free, point where you look and double as hand-held easily.
There is an entire community of security guard and military types who are flashlight fanatics in the same way some people collect sports cars they can’t really afford and they make small productions of custom modified “overcloaked” LED flashlights with higher wattage than usual. http://www.candlepowerforums.com
Surefire is indeed good, since the Arc Flashlight company went belly up last year. The point of cool LED flashlights is that they use a single expensive CR123 battery, which you can buy on Ebay for a dollar each instead of very expensive at drugstores.
