I’m parked within view of Lake Weir in Oklawaha, FL. Blog reader and seminar attendee Marci found me this nice spot and offered the use of her Pontoon boat and Jet Ski 🙂
I tried to park under a tall tree in Marci’s neighbor’s property (a 73 year old woman who still mows the grass and rakes enough leaves to easily fill a half-dozen huge garbage bags). I didn’t realize that what felt like solid ground was really just a crust with tons of sand underneath. In the process of trying to park, I broke through that crust and sunk into the sand. It cost me $200 to have a huge wrecker pull me out.

If you get into that situation again… try lifting the tag axle before you move.
The sand was so light that lifting the tag would have sunk me in deeper… if it wasn’t sand, then I would have done that.

Ben, you should join AAA or Family Motor Coach and sign up for their RV package. They cover towing. I suspect that this is just your first experience with the high costs of towing a motor home. It can cost a lot more than $200. if you need a tow from the middle of now where!

OK, I know I am late to the party here, but now I’ve been through the whole site and I did not see it mentioned…
We’ve been very happy with Coach-Net through FMCA (I saw an FMCA placard in at least one of your photos). It’s about $100 a year, and they’ve never yet sent a truck too small to tow us. For us, it’s paid for itself many times over, for example:
