Yesterday, I drove from Kingman, AZ to Needles, CA and made a stop in Oatman, AZ on the way. I was planning on driving further into California today, but couldn’t help stay the night once I found the place shown at the top of the page. There are 5-6 abandoned buildings that makes for a "target rich environment", if ya know what I mean. I’m parked within a few yards of this place and took some night shots using colored flash as well.
The shot at the bottom was taken in Oatman, AZ, which is a town with wondering wild burros that love to be fed carrots. The town itself is very much designed for tourists, but there are some interesting abandoned buildings in the surroundings. It was 110°+ in Arizona today, which was hot enough for me.
As usual, you can click on the images to get a larger version.
I have a Google search for Kingman and your blog came up overnight, so I thought I’d check it out. I lived in Kingman many years ago and am moving back at the end of the month because my family is still there. (And I’ve had many beers and burgers at the Oatman Hotel! Those burros can really be annoying, can’t they?)
Your photos are amazing. I wish you were going to be teaching a seminar at the Mohave Community College, but guess that’s not in the cards.
Anyway, I enjoyed your photos and blog. Safe travels.
Thank you! I was born and raised in Needles,ca and am found of route 66 and my heritage.
