Today I explored a tiny town called Niland on the East side of Salton Lake. There were many abandoned buildings to shoot. At sunset, I drove to the coast and shot this panorama. As usual, you can click on the image to see a larger version. Nothing fancy is going on in this shot… it’s just been processed with Camera Raw, then manually aligned the images (since photomerge wasn’t able to do it) and then used Photoshop CS3’s Auto Blend Layers command to get the exposures to match.
You made it through Niland, CA without mentioning Salvation Mountain? Unbelievable. I respect you more for it! The sunsets around there are tremendous … it softens the edges of a vast amount of poverty.
