Today, I followed Route 66 from Winslow, Arizona to Milan, New Mexico. On the way, I shot at least 20GB of images and am rather tired after pushing that shutter button so much in a single day.
The shot above was taken at a double-secret location (sheeeesh… exit 320 off I40 in Arizona, go North one mile, turn left and head 2.5 miles… plan for bumps, gravel and otherwise off the beaten track stuff). It’s the old Painted Desert Trading Post that used to be passed by thousands on Route 66, but is now in the middle of the desert on a part of Route 66 that few people see these days. I doubt it will be standing for too many additional years since its roof and floor are starting to crumble.
Great Shot there Ben – love the clouds.
Looking forward to seeing you in London on the 27th.
Safe journey over,
Regards,
Glyn
Would be nice if you could provide a link to the original, un-photoshopped photos you take. Be interesting to see the actual effects of PS.
I can’t stop looking at this photo. I’m no one you know – just Googling images of Winslow.
Stunning effect.
I absolutely love the picture of the Painted Desert Trading Post. This picture captures a beautiful moment and lets the imagination ponder back in time in a atempt to recollect what the trading post could have looked like in its glory days on Route 66. This picture speaks to me in so many ways. I’m happy that you posted it for everyone to view. I think this picture could win a national photo contest if it hasn’t done so already. Dean
Nice HDR shot! I’m from Winslow and we used to hang out in that old trading post.
