Hi Ben, Just read your “color space” article and have never head of ProPhoto RGB before. It sounds like it ought to be available to photographers, but it’s not an option on my D200. What is it, and how can I get all those extra colors?
Happy trails.

It is available to photographers and anyone else who wants to use it… it’s just not available in your camera. If you shoot RAW, then simply change the pop-up menu at the bottom of the Camera Raw dialot box to Pro Photo and you’re set… it’s now as if your camera offered the setting since that’s what will be used after processing the image. I would only use ProPhoto if you work with 16-bit files… you can set that in the same area of camera raw.
