Today, I spent more time exploring the Salton City area. I returned to a few spots that I had visited yesterday and wasted a lot of time looking for interesting subject matter that didn’t exist in the areas I was driving through.
Tomorrow, I plan to head to the other side of the lake where I know there is a lot to photograph.
Hey there, I was referred to your site by Renee Pearson. I too am a photographer living and traveling full time in my motorhome with my wife, I was just at Salton City but had no time to get ay photographs (other than a few shoes) It is a wild place, so desolate and eerie. All those dead fish rotting and decaying just was too much for me to be around. Anyway, just thought I would say hello. Safe travels.
Hey Ben –
I enjoy reading about your nomadic adventures cross country but I’ve got to ask you… just what are you doing post process to your photos? It almost looks like you’re doing a high pass in a multiply blend mode and then adding in an illustrated look. Would you care to divulge some of your secret tips and tricks?
PS. And by the way, your CS2 book is the standard by which I measure all others.
Keep up the great work and most of all, have fun!
Christie
Randy,
FYI: I sent you a private message via e-mail.
Christie.
Most of these shots are three exposure HDR images. Many also have been modified using a new set of actions I’ve been developing. Those actions often duplicate a layer, possible blur it and use blending modes and other features to enhance the result. I’m currently working on a new seminar that will show how I create all these images.
I’ve been experimenting with Surface Blur, Highpass and many other filters, but haven’t refined the ideas enough to provide useful comments.
