I hope Santa was good to everyone and that you all had a great holiday week! We sure did here in New Jersey, where I have been spending the holidays with Karen’s family. Christmas morning is a bit of a gift-giving marathon here, punctuated by breakfast and happy hour breaks. I got some fun gifts, including a mini projector that fits in your pocket, an ATV tour for our upcoming trip to Hawaii, and custom red solo cups with my name and a graphic of my signature hat (I have a thing for red solo cups, and Karen’s parents actually found a place where you can customize them!).
The beginning of the gift-giving extravaganza
I’m a big fan of the classic red solo cup, so Karen’s parents got me a pretty appropriate gift!
The rest of the week has been pretty low key for us. We’ve been doing your normal holiday stuff and getting ready for the big Hawaii trip. Since I’m getting married next week, some of the guys here arranged a fun bachelor’s outing for me. They rented a limo and we visited some beer bars in Philadelphia. It was definitely a fun and “spirited” day, and at the end, the girls met us at our final bar.
While this past week has been pretty quiet, the big news is what lies next week. As I mentioned before, we are flying to Hawaii this morning and on January 4th, Karen and I are getting married in a small chapel on the big island, surrounded by a small group of close family and friends. It’s going to be a casual and intimate ceremony, and we are both extremely excited.
With that, I’d like to wish everyone a Happy New Year, and you should expect some great photos in the next post!
More to come…
From The Netherlands my best wishes for 2013 and may your wedding be the start of a very happy and healthy life together in the – maybe? – delivered bus.
Best regards,
Henk
